ABOUT THE CHEF

Hung Huynh is a Vietnamese-American chef and winner of Bravo’s Top Chef season 3. Huynh was born in Saigon, Vietnam, but raised in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. As a child, Huynh wandered the streets of Cho Lon to sharpen his olfactory, studying the delicate spices and aromas permeating the Saigon air. Having been exposed to the cuisine of his native tongue, Chef Hung understood the delicate culinary balance necessary to create savory and memorable dishes.

When he was 8, his family immigrated to Pittsfield where they opened a family restaurant serving home cooked Vietnamese food. It was at his family’s restaurant that Huynh became consumed with passion to explore food and cooking. He received his most valuable skills and culinary training directly from his mother. After finishing high school, Huynh found his way to the Culinary Institute of America to further his education. He is trained in classic French and Asian cuisines.

Huynh participated in the 2008 Bocuse d'Or USA culinary contest, competing to represent the U.S. in the 2009 where he won the "Best Fish Award." He has worked at some of the best restaurants in the world including Per Se, Lespinesse, and served as executive sous chef at restaurant Guy Savoy. He is currently the executive chef of Catch, the buzzing 3 floor hot spot and The General owned by the lifestyle team of the EMM Group.
